Meta was created by the Bourbons when they built the street that links Castellammare di Stabia to Sorrento. The origin of its name is uncertain, it could come from the Latin “meta” which means “pile”. The town has all the characteristics that make  the Sorrento Coast unique: wonderful sights, beautiful beaches and dozens of activities that never bore the tourist. Not to be missed in Meta, the living nativities, a visit to the peculiar hamlet of Alberi and the celebrations for the Madonna del Lauro in September.
