Location - Campi Flegrei
Large volcanic area, the Campi Flegrei spread out north- west to Naples. The area is included in the towns of Pozzuoli, Bacoli, Monte di Procida, Quarto Flegreo. Also the Neapolitan quarters of Posillipo, Fuorigrotta, Agnano and the hamlets of Pianura, Pisani and Soccavo are part of them. Of remarkable historical, landscape and environmental importance, the area is made up of 24 volcanic craters and several thermal springs. In 2003 The Regional Park of Campi Flegrei was set up: the area of the park gives hospitality to almost 140,000 inhabitants. The territory is characterized by a Mediterranean climate and the maquis shelters vegetable species of remarkable interest.
