Text: The reviews have been helpful. This is not a review but a request for some information regarding Sorrento in particular. I understand weather is unpredictable, but do you think March in Sorrento or the Amalfi Coast can be pleasant? I know April and May are better but we may not have a choice. Positano has been suggested but I''m wondering in the slower season if there will be more gong on in Sorrento since we may be there for two weeks. We are seniors and like activity during the day locally, day trips, sightseeing, markets, exploring by local transportation, and so on. We will not be driving. Are there self-catering apts. to rent? Any suggestions as to accommodations fairly centrally located and well priced (not luxury – average). Any suggestions you have for first-time visitors would be appreciated especially with feedback regarding vacationing in March or April.

Text: we have just returned after one week in s, agnello ,sorrento. staying at la pergola hotel, fabulous food, lovely staff very helpful. cleanliness top marks, but small rooms and very small showers. 25 minute walk into sorrento main square on a busy main road, very narrow pavements. Bus service good, was able to see some fantastic scenery, taking the bus to positano and the boat over to capri and up to anacapri well worth a visit. the only bad thing that sticks in my mind was the piles of rubbish in the streets of sorrento, bins overflowing and a lot of litter. The weather was glorious

Text: Weather gorgeous in mid-Sept. City was clean and safe with lots to do. Stayed at the Hotel Settimo Cielo--which means 7th heaven and the views from the balcony was fabulous! Nice small hotel with very friendly and helpful front desk staff. Breakfast was ok-nothing great. Twelve min walk to town. We would definitely go back here and to Amalfi.

Text: My husband and I visited Ravello and Positano in 1999. It was a magical time and the memories linger vividly all these years later! We were residing at our hotel in Ravello. One evening, after closing the window shutters and drawing the drapes we retired to sleep. In the middle of the night we were awakend by a Jovian clap of thunder, rapidly followed by lightning which illuminated our room. We rose and threw open the window coverings. We stood transfixed at our window as a great storm drove sluiced its way down the canyon to the shoreline. It was an unforgettable experience. One day, the call of Sorrento will bring me back!

Text: Sorrento was great, we got married there and had a fantastic time. But the Carlton International is the worst hotel we''ve ever stayed in, the food is terrible, the pool man is a bully and the reception staff are unfriendly, the only good things I can say about the Carlton is that the waiters and location were very good.

Text: Just returned from a week in Sorrento staying in an apartment just of the Piazza Tasso square. Location great. Weather dreadful. 4 days of very heavy rain and thunderstorms. Didn''t stop us doing the things we wanted to during the day but struggled to find somewhere to drink of a night as all bars were full of people eating. Best places to drink and eat is the Foreigners Bar. Staff most friendly. This was our second visit. First time we stayed in 5* hotel with organised trips. This time we tried to do it on the cheap and use the local transport. Bought tickets for buses but rarely got on one. If we return again we will stay 5*. Scenery as fantastic as we remembered. Just remember to bring plenty of money - everything costs a lot!

Text: I had my reservations about holidaying in Italy because I wanted it to be good and wasn''t too sure. However, I couldn''t have been more wrong. What a place! Lively, friendly, safe and the food... The Hotel Continental is better than excellent. The food is excellent, the service and staff are second to none and the quality of the accommodation is superb too. I enjoyed it so much, I''m flying back out on Friday!!!

Text: In July,Malcolm and I went to Sorrento for our honeymoon and spent 3 weeks in this heaven on earth. The area is beautiful but what makes this one of the most special places in the world is the warmth, humour and sheer joy for life of the people. They open up their homes and hearts to those who visit here. We stayed at the Villa Anna on Via Rota, 8-lovely gardens, a pool, breakfast and beautifully kept rooms and apartments. Anna and her family were kind to us and also gave us the space we wanted to just relax. The Foreigners Club, just off the Piazza Antonio is built on the cliff''s edge where you can dine inexpensively and dance while overlooking the beautiful Bay of Naples and if you like steak and don''t know where to find it, go here-melts in your mouth! Vincenzo Testa has left a message on here that made me weep-Vincenzo, my heart and prayers go out to you and I hope you soon will be able to go back to Sorrento. It tears at my heart whenever leave Sorrento and I have only been there 5 times-I can''t imagine how painful it would be to have been born there and be parted from the land of the Sirens-perhaps the Sirens still enchant all those who have walked there-its like the pain of missing one''s lover.

Text: well i have just returned from sorrento after two magical weeks. this is my third visit to sorrento and the hotel president & i have already booked again for next year!!! i cant explain how wonderful sorrento is, you have to be there to experience it!!! the atmosphere, the friendly people & the weather make it the perfect holiday destination. My favourite little place is chaplins irish bar, a quaint pub run by a lovely family, maria, luigi (who calls himself seamus) and their daughters, a night there is a memorable experience!!! What can i say about the hotel president?? perfect just doesnt quite cover it!every year i go back and meet other people who have gone back which shows in itself how nice it is! the staff are so friendly they seem more like family, and no matter how long since they last saw you, they still remember you! at the moment im looking into my options of moving permanently to sorrento so if any brits out there have any helpful tips please email me!! thank you or should i say grazie!!! xxx

Text: I have just returned from my 39th visit to Sorrento and enjoyed yet another wonderful holiday. I fell in love with Sorrento and the Neapolitan Riviera back in 1990 and have returned regularly ever since. It is amazing how many people one meets who are not on their first visit to the area but who have succumbed to Sorrento''s seductive charms and have come back. Who can blame them? It is a very beautiful spot with stunning views, friendly locals and lots of interesting places to see nearby. There can''t be many places in the world with all this on offer and I must say that it looked particularly beautiful in the strong summer sunshine. If you''re a fan of Italian food, music and essentially "la dolce vita" then there''s no better place!
